Red, White and Blue

Top: Saint James. Shirt: MaxMara. Skirt: ASOS. Shoes: Alexander Wang (similar here). Sunnies: Celine. Bag: Chanel. Watch: Hermes. Photography by Steph Wells

In the words of the great American author and humorist, Mark Twain: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."  By the looks of it, you'd guess it's March, not August.  Growing up in NY, I remember basking in these final glorious weeks of summer, but alas, I'm bundled up in long sleeves, sweaters and coats.

That said, here's my nod to "the summer preppy look".  Remember this distressed denim inspiration?  I paired it with a striped shirt from Saint James and a white button down from MaxMara plus a pop of red by Chanel.

Summer here I come!

Bohemian Blooms

Top: Haute Hippie (on sale!). Shorts: American Apparel. Shoes: Alexander Wang (similar here). Bag: J.Crew (old). Sunnies: Alexander McQueen. Earrings: H&M. Necklace: Jennifer ZeunerPhotography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Jean, I'm loving the patriotic look on you!

So despite the fact that it's 60 degrees in San Francisco (brrr!), I've managed to soak up a ton of sun these past couple of weeks.  All courtesy of ridiculous heat waves during my trips to NYC and Vegas (105 degrees!).  Tip: Vegas in July = NO BUENO.  It's a rancid hot pot of heat, humidity and cigarette smoke.

Hope everyone is staying cool (or warm if you're in SF)!

Happy Belated July 4th!

Blazer: Zara, Dress: Beauty Mark, Belt: Vintage, Shoes: Chloe, Sunnies: Quay
Photography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Cousin, loving the red dress-- I remember not having to convince you on that purchase!  The only red I can wear is probably in accessories--- like a vintage belt in these pics.

I was hoping to post this for July 4th but with all the summer festivities, I'm a tad late.  OOPS!  I can't say that this is the best July 4th outfit (since I would stain this white dress immediately with my hot dog and burger fixings) but I'm sure I'll eventually find a summer event where I can wear this to...

Maybe if I paired it with a big ole hat it could be Derby friendly for next year?  Yes-- who doesn't love a custom Derby hat?!?!?!?!?!  Potential for a great blog post!

Sizzling in Red (Literally!)

Dress: Haute Hippie (similar here). Shoes: Alexander Wang. Bag: J.Crew (old). Sunnies: Celine. Earrings: H&M. Necklace: Jennifer ZeunerPhotography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Guess where I am?  Back in NYC!

The weather's been amazing, albeit sweltering.  Most days call for as little clothing as possible, which for me means tank tops and short shorts.  But what little summer gear I brought got worn out quickly (not to mention sweaty, ew).

Fortunately, I packed my favorite summer dress by Haute Hippie.  It's bright and makes me feel like I'm floating on air.  And if tomato red wasn't bright enough, I added a small pop of color: neon yellow sandals by Alexander Wang.

Ah...don't ya just love summer!  I sure do!

Workout Gear You Can Wear Out

HoodieAdidas by Stella McCartney (on sale). Top: Lululemon. Pants: Lululemon. Sunnies: Celine. Photography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Did you see how much air I got?  If only I had learned to played basketball...I could've taken my talents to South Beach.

Let's talk about workout gear.  Thanks to brands like Lululemon and Adidas/Stella McCartney, women's athletic apparel which was once dowdy and dull is now fashionable and high-quality (= high end).  To which I say "AMEN!"

Some may balk at the price tag - $78 for a pair of basic black leggings - but you'll get more than your money's worth.  I wear my gear EVERYWHERE: Bar Method, Soul Cycle (thanks for getting me addicted, cousin), the supermarket, to run errands, on the plane, lounging around at home, etc...  My new hoodie is already broken in after NYC.  I got it for a steal at the net-a-porter sale and highly recommend you check out what's left before it's gone!

Epic Packing Fail

Sunnies: Celine, Sweater: Soyer, Vest: Zara, Shorts: Vintage, Boots: Uggs
Photography by Steph Wells

Lets talk about an epic packing fail.
I really should have listened to everyone who warned me about the schizophrenic weather in SF.  Thank goodness I was able to manage to walk around in your Uggs-- complete lifesaver!  Only redeeming part of my outfit fails was that you let me sport your super duper lux sweater and vest!  Oh, and loved those new sunnies, but you know I had to part with them.  Wah, wah, wah!

Anyway, thank Steph for me as I'm sure she thought I was a photo hog!  Time for you to meet my uber talented photographer, Bo!

See you on the east coast-- the best coast.

Cousin.

What Kind Of Pants Does Super Mario Wear?

Denim Jacket, Sleeveless shirt, Bandeau, Skirt: Abercrombie & Fitch, Sneakers: Keds, Sunnies: Quay
Photography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Hi Cousin!  I'm writing this post from sunny SoCal and have been working on my tan.  It actually feels like Spring/ early Summer here-- vs NYC where 60s feels like 50s-- PASS.

I haven't been a fan of denim on denim for a while now but have seen some outfits where it has worked out really well.  I'm def digging your denim, leather, booties look-- just gives the double denim an updated touch.

The only time I wear denim jackets is with skirts as I think denim jackets with denim jeans look like an urban version of the canadian tux.  Again-- PASS.  I found this whole outfit at Abercrombie & Fitch and can't tell if I'm an older chick trying to look young or just looking cute as a button.  HAHA!

So what kind of pants does super mario wear?  obviously, DENIM, DENIM, DENIM.... get it? You might need to hear me say it-- but the joke never gets old.  NEVER.

See you later today!  Jean

Stripes

Vest: J.Crew (old, similar here). Top: Saint James. Jeans: DL1961. Belt: J.Crew (old). Shoes: Zara (old). Bag: Chanel. Watch: Hermes. Sunnies: Alexander McQueenPhotography by Steph Wells

Bon dimanche, mes amis!  It's been a glorious week thanks to the mini "heat wave" here in San Francisco.  I've been soaking up as much sun as I can before Mother Nature knocks us back to reality.  (It's already 20 degrees colder - BAH!)  Mostly just lounging around, eating and drinking on the Bay.  Which brings me to the inspiration for today's outfit: nautical stripes.

And who does nautical stripes best?  The French, of course!  This blue and white striped t-shirt by Saint James is one of my favorite and most versatile pieces (as you'll probably see in future blog posts).  Honestly, I don't know what I would do without it.  Do you have a favorite tee?

Hope your enjoying the weekend!

Mille bisous, Linda

Channeling Isabel Marant

Jacket: H&M (splurge here). Jeans: Genetic Denim. Belt: J.Crew (old). Shoes: Zara (old). Bag: Ferragamo (vintage)Sunglasses: Alexander McQueenPhotography by Steph Wells

Honey child, you are working that brocade!  I usually stay far, far away from shiny fabrics, but you've convinced me otherwise.  Speaking of prints...

My favorite trend right now is ethnic bohemian inspired by Isabel Marant S/S 2013.  I can't drop $1K on one of her print jackets (stalking this one right now), but I'll get my affordable fix at H&M.  I waited months for this embroidered patchwork jacket to arrive in stores and snagged it THE DAY it arrived fresh off the truck.  Fashion high five!

Two Prints, One Dress

Dress: Juicy Couture, Sunnies: Chanel
Photography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Lets forget this "cougar" nonsense and talk about that Ferragamo clutch.  I see you mentioned vintage. I can't seem to maneuver through a vintage shop-- even the amazing ones.  Truly a great find cousin-- it's a great purchase.

Florals are everywhere this season and I really liked the addition of stripes on this dress.  From all my spring dresses, this is 100% my favorite print.  Well, for now.  Of course tomorrow I'll love something else.  Typical right?

A Pop of Red

Sweater: SoyerJeans: DL1961Bag: ChanelSunglasses: Alexander McQueenPhotography by Steph Wells

Cousin, how fun was March Madness in Vegas?!?  I can't wait to go back next year.  Just remind me that sports betting is not in my wheelhouse.  Yes, I'm still reeling over Duke.

So I've been on the hunt for a neutral bag to fill a gap in my wardrobe.  I originally was thinking of getting something in beige, but realized it didn't pop against any of my dark clothes.  After a lot of deliberation, I found the perfect color...

Say hello to my little red bag!

New Arm & Eye Candy

Photography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Cousin, Remember when I returned your Guess sweater?  The same night, I was passing by Saks and figured I could do some window shopping.  OOPS!  Window shopping became a shopping spree and ended up snagging this gorg Chanel... Pretty much love at first sight and at the same time I scored an awesome friend-- the one and only adorable Marjan.
Honestly how awesome/ hot is he?
Bloggers-- curious to who Marjan is?  Follow him on instagram @marjiemarj  He is also working on an amazing bag line @marjangjuraj !

See you in VEGAS- Less than 24 hours away!  Btw, my March Madness brackets have been ruined.  But I'm not about to blame any specific team. AHEM Andrew....

Les Faux Marants

Shirt: J.Crew (similar here). Pants: Zara. Belt: Vince Camuto (sold out). Sneakers: Steve Madden. Sunglasses: Alexander McQueenPhotography by Steph Wells

Cousin, I love your "running sucks" t-shirt and tutu.  I think you can tell from our pics that you're the artistic one in the family and I'm the athletic one.

In honor  of March Madness, I hit the basketball courts with my faux Marants.  Dribble dribble.  Dunk dunk.  By the way, I was not making it rain on the court.

See you in Vegas for MM. (Go Duke!) xoxo, Linda
