The Distressed Denim Skirt

Skirt: ASOS (sold out, similar here)

In case you may be thinking "Really? That's so 1990!"... let's discuss the versatility of the distressed denim pencil skirt:

Work: I don't know about you, but business casual bores me to tears.  I have countless black skirts and trousers that look EXACTLY the same!  Enter the distressed denim skirt.  You could throw it on with a classic white shirt to add a little edge to your outfit and still handle yo' business.

Weekend: I'll admit it, there have been weekends when all I wore were my Lululemons (wearing them right now).  My justification was that I wanted to be comfy without looking like I just rolled out of bed.  That, and they have magical bootie lifting properties.  Now if I had a distressed denim skirt, I could pair it with an oversized hoodie or denim shirt (a la RiRi) and go casual chic.

So distressed denim skirt: yay or nay?

Weekend Inspiration: Saint Laurent

Bow Tie: ASOS.

For months I've been eyeing the oversized black bow ties from Saint Laurent Spring 2013.  They would do wonders for my button down shirts.  Admittedly, I've sunk some serious cash on some not-so-practical accessories, but this one's a little too steep, even for me...$585!!!

Luckily, I found a much, much, much cheaper alternative here.  Added to my cart and checking out!  Stay tuned for it on a future blog post.

Leather + Lace

Top: Gucci (vintage). Skirt: Zara (similar here). Belt: H&M (old). Shoes: Christian Louboutin. Photography: Steph Wells

Ever since I saw this high-waisted leather skirt by Valentino on Chanel Iman, I've searched high and low to recreate it with affordable pieces.  Thanks to the frugally-minded designers at Zara and H&M, I combined their faux leather pencil skirt and peplum leather belt for $75!  How close did I get?

Happy Monday! Linda

P.S. I'm loving that skull tee that you paired with your camo jacket.  So whimsical!

Diesel Black Gold- Will you be my Valentine?

Happy Valentine's Day!
Love is in the air today-- and I'm crazy in love with ALL of Diesel Black Gold Fall 2013 looks.  Move over boring black denim jackets, LBDs and plain leather skinnies because you were old flames and I'm ready for these super hot and adventurous threads.
XOXO fall beauties!
Cousin, are you sporting your red lipstick today?!

Are you there Spring? It's me, Jean.

Tod's loafers, by special order. 212-644-5945.
Fall 2013 Fashion week is in full effect BUT before I start loving the new fall trends (do you think I can pull off that glamourous gypsy BCBG look?) I need to enjoy some SPRING.  I spotted these beauties in the February 2013 issue of Harper's Bazaar and now the real question is how much blood do I need to sell to purchase these special order loafers?
Ah!  Dying to attend a NYFW show! Jean

Urban Gypsy at BCBG

BCBG nailed it for Fall 2013.  After seeing their looks, I immediately wanted to run into my closet and start layering like an urban gypsy who inherited a sick collection of fur from her rich aunt in Russia.  I can't wait to see Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore and Rachel Zoe on Wednesday.  Happy New York Fashion Week!

xoxo, Linda

P.S. I'm loving your non-traditional sweater from DVF!

Wear it like Man Repeller

Picture 12
Picture from Man Repeller
Speaking of parody t-shirts... Check out this one from Man Repeller.  True LOL moment!  Unfort I cannot sport profanity as well as she does.  Major girl crush.
Just a moment while I finish up my next post.

Channeling Emmanuelle Alt

Blazer: Zara (old). Shirt: J.Crew (similar here). Jeans: DL1961. Boots: IRO (sold out). Bracelets: Forever 21. Photography by whathelenworetoday

Confession: I've been style stalking Emmanuelle Alt.  Her Parisian moto / rocker chic style is edgy yet classic, not to mention deceivingly hard to replicate.

Asian Emmanuelle Alt?  Um...not even close, but here's to trying!

Bon dimanche!  Linda
