Channeling Isabel Marant

Jacket: H&M (splurge here). Jeans: Genetic Denim. Belt: J.Crew (old). Shoes: Zara (old). Bag: Ferragamo (vintage)Sunglasses: Alexander McQueenPhotography by Steph Wells

Honey child, you are working that brocade!  I usually stay far, far away from shiny fabrics, but you've convinced me otherwise.  Speaking of prints...

My favorite trend right now is ethnic bohemian inspired by Isabel Marant S/S 2013.  I can't drop $1K on one of her print jackets (stalking this one right now), but I'll get my affordable fix at H&M.  I waited months for this embroidered patchwork jacket to arrive in stores and snagged it THE DAY it arrived fresh off the truck.  Fashion high five!

What is Bro·cade?

Cousin, your bright color block ensemble makes me hopeful that Spring will get to the east coast soon. It is so cold here that I regret dropping off my down coat at the dry cleaners.   In the spirit of freezing... Here is my fav print of this past season- BROCADE!

I like this print-- I like it a lot.  Hopefully it doesn't make folks dizzy.  I for sure don't want to be confused with those 3D Magic images.  Remember those?  I'm pretty sure you told me I would be crossed eyed if I mastered the book.

Does SF love bocade as much as NYC?

It's a Color Block Party

Top: Gap (similar here). Pants: Zara (similar here). Shoes: Christian Louboutin. Necklace: H&M. Photography: Jim Lee

Color blocking isn't showing any signs of slowing down.  There were lots of new color combos going down the runways at Celine Fall 2012 and  Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013.  My all-time favorite is pink and red.  It's been seared into my brain ever since I first saw it on Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper.  I can always count on this outfit to brighten my day.  Can't wait to show you my next color block outfit: black and white (a la Balenciaga).

Cool Squares

Top and Skirt: Whistles, Sunnies: Illesteva, Boots: Vintage
Photography by BShim of Bashful Captures

Cousin, giant bows are right up my alley but I would not be able to justify the cost of the Saint Laurent ones.  What I "could" justify is any of the items in the Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 collection.  Any time I see these perfect and colorful iconic squares, I swoooooooon!  My concern is that if I somehow won the lottery and snagged one of these "to die" for outfits, I would look like a walking checkerboard.

Back to reality....
You know I love the British brand Whistles and scored a color block outfit that is way more affordable and practical.  Probably going to wear this to work this week and hopefully I don't get clowned.  It actually happens often.

PS: I hate how these boots look with this outfit.  BAH.

I Don't Miss You, Winter.

Top: Equipment . Skirt: ASOS (sold out). Necklace: H&M (old)

I'm loving your floral dress!  The black and white stripes feel very Dolce & Gabbana-y.  Speaking of florals...

I bought this trumpet skirt waaaaay back in the fall after I saw it on Le Catch (one of my favorite blogs).  I only got to wear it once before winter reared its ugly head and have been saving it for spring all these months.  The jacquard fabric and flattering cut were a no-brainer.  That and it was a total steal for $60 on ASOS.

Weekend Inspiration: Saint Laurent

Bow Tie: ASOS.

For months I've been eyeing the oversized black bow ties from Saint Laurent Spring 2013.  They would do wonders for my button down shirts.  Admittedly, I've sunk some serious cash on some not-so-practical accessories, but this one's a little too steep, even for me...$585!!!

Luckily, I found a much, much, much cheaper alternative here.  Added to my cart and checking out!  Stay tuned for it on a future blog post.

Two Prints, One Dress

Dress: Juicy Couture, Sunnies: Chanel

Lets forget this "cougar" nonsense and talk about that Ferragamo clutch.  I see you mentioned vintage. I can't seem to maneuver through a vintage shop-- even the amazing ones.  Truly a great find cousin-- it's a great purchase.

Florals are everywhere this season and I really liked the addition of stripes on this dress.  From all my spring dresses, this is 100% my favorite print.  Well, for now.  Of course tomorrow I'll love something else.  Typical right?

Animal Instincts

Sweater: Ralph Lauren (old). Tank: Zara. Jeans: Genetic Denim. Belt: J.Crew (old). Shoes: GivenchyBag: Ferragamo (vintage)Sunglasses: Alexander McQueenPhotography by Steph Wells

You don't have to ask me twice about throwing on an animal print.  Make mine leopard, please!  So, I originally bought this printed tank with a matching pencil skirt last spring from Zara, but it was a little too leopard-y so it's been sitting in my closet all winter.  Your post inspired me to dust it off and man it up with my favorite boyfriend jeans and vintage clutch.  What do you think?  Does it reek of cougar?

Roar!

Vegas was crazy fun and glad all the cousins got to together... What was it?  A family who gambles together, stays together?  Haha!

Let's talk animal print.  I'm weary about it.  I'm concerned that it makes me look like a "cougar".  I know its not true as Andrew is only a year younger than me but still...  I'm not fully comfortable with this pattern.  Is this outfit hinting at age or just cuddly cute? BAH!

A Pop of Red

Sweater: SoyerJeans: DL1961Bag: ChanelSunglasses: Alexander McQueenPhotography by Steph Wells

Cousin, how fun was March Madness in Vegas?!?  I can't wait to go back next year.  Just remind me that sports betting is not in my wheelhouse.  Yes, I'm still reeling over Duke.

So I've been on the hunt for a neutral bag to fill a gap in my wardrobe.  I originally was thinking of getting something in beige, but realized it didn't pop against any of my dark clothes.  After a lot of deliberation, I found the perfect color...

Say hello to my little red bag!
